Past Women's Empowerment Projects

Andrea Schwartz
Manchester, New Hampshire

Andrea arrived as Global Mamas began collecting annual impact data on the changes to the Mamas' businesses during 2007, which fed into the 2007 annual report.

Andrea provided her project management expertise to Global Mamas in various ways, including:
  • Meeting with numerous Global Mamas and interviewing them to collate data to assist in tracking the "results" – changes – that Global Mamas businesses experienced during 2007.
  • Writing our quarterly newsletter, which involved interviewing volunteers, staff, and Global Mamas to capture the stories and news that best showcased the organizations achievements for the quarter.
  • Creating an outline for the 2007 annual report so that more information, including figures and stories, could be included in the 2007 annual report than ever before.
  • Assisting fellow volunteers prepare for their larger projects, including planning the website marketing project that would be launched in June 2008.

Andrea said that one of the most rewarding aspects of her volunteer experience was interviewing the Global Mamas, which was fun and rewarding.

"I loved visiting the women at their locations, and having the opportunity to interact with the community. Also, I enjoyed working in the office and getting to know the office staff while I did projects that had little people interaction, such as the annual report."
