Global Mamas has partnered with the Christian Mother's Association (CMA) of Damango and Naasakle Ltd. to produce "Grade A" bulk shea butter for export. CMA is comprised of nearly 700 female members from 12 villages surrounding Damango, Ghana that gather the karite (shea) nuts for production. The majority of the production for the shea butter takes place in the CMA's production facility with technical assistance provided by Naasakle. 

 For these women, harvesting shea nuts and producing shea butter is one of the few ways they can help support their families. Through the export of Global Mamas Pure Shea, numerous women are increasing their incomes substantially and receiving more consistent work throughout the year. The additional income flowing into this poverty-stricken area in northern Ghana is also impacting the lives many poor people throughout the region. 

 Global Mamas, Naasakle and CMA are all working together obtain fair trade and organic certifications through IMO. The process has been started and is expected to be completed in 2011.
