Mary, who joined Global Mamas in March 2008, exemplifies the universal drive among the Global Mamas.  She always had an interest in batiking, but due to financial circumstances she was unable to open her own shop at first.  She worked at a supermarket for a year in order to save enough money to pursue her dream.  Unfortunately, soon after opening her shop Mary completed an expansive order for a costumer, only to be unpaid for her work.  Due to this financial loss and the ensuing strain on her business, she turned to Global Mamas for help.  After joining Global Mamas she was able to begin work again and even hire two workers and one apprentice.  Her profit margin significantly increased as her income nearly doubled.  As a result, she is able to help support multiple members of her extended family. When Mary is not hard at work, she enjoys resting and traveling in Ghana.  Ultimately her goal is to grow her business to a point where she can help underprivileged children of Ghana receive better education.
