When she was young, Joanna used to make clothes for her friends and family.  After a four year apprenticeship, she moved on to sew on her own.  At first, Joanna only had one sewing machine and struggled to pay the rent on her working space.  Through a friend, Joanna was introduced to Global Mamas and filled out an application.  She now has apprentices of her own and owns five sewing machines and a weaving machine.  Joanna's dream is to own her own shop one day, a goal that has become closer to realization each day as she saves more and more.  She still finds joy in her work, and her favorite part of the job is the finished products, growing income, and using her new money to help others.
