Business Development Volunteer Opportunities in AfricaBusiness Development

Global Mamas provides women in Ghana with direct access to markets around the world. We provide our producers with personalized, hands-on business assistance and trainings to strengthen their capacity. Our business development volunteers focus on a wide range of projects that empower the women we work with to become self-sufficient - either working directly with our Mamas or on a project that ensures Global Mamas continues to grow and supports more women every year.

Whether as a short-term or long-term volunteer, your professional skills will be put to use and help make a difference in the lives of women in Africa, their families and their communities. At the same time, you will give purpose to your time off work.

Past Business Development Projects

Kim Jursa - Business Development volunteer in Africa

Kim Jursa
New York, New York

Kim provided practical branding advice for Global Mamas recycled product line expansion, as well as for the next wave of Global Mamas products. Kim was able to help Global Mamas in the following ways:

  • Delivered a short and long term “innovation funnel” of potentially feasible ideas, including product recommendations in glass, paper, aluminum, and rubber.
  • Conducted a survey to identify key brand root strengths that can be leveraged by creating a more interactive customer experience.
  • Created a consumer profile to ensure all internal activation and external executions are consistent and contribute to differentiated brand positioning for Global Mamas.

Kim had such a great time reacquainting herself with the fundamentals of marketing and applying them to the Global Mamas brand and a cause that she was truly passionate about. It reawakened her drive for building meaningful consumer brands and reminded her why she decided to make a career in marketing.

"One of my favorite moments was sitting on Esther's sewing shop porch just watching the Ghanaian daily life pass along."
