Marketing & Communications Volunteer Opportunities in Africa

Marketing & Communications

The success of Global Mamas very much depends on our ability to develop and implement innovative marketing campaigns that generate more income for our Mamas through product sales. There are many ways in which we could put your marketing and communications skills to use:

  • Develop innovative marketing strategies to expand sales of Global Mamas products around the world targeting both wholesale and retail customers.
  • Develop and implement PR campaigns designed to tell the stories of our Mamas to expand sales, increase donations, and recruit additional volunteers.
  • Work one-on-one with our Mamas to help them develop and implement marketing strategies to grow their businesses or launch a new product line.

Past Marketing & Communications Projects

Kim Jursa - Business Development volunteer in Africa

Kim Jursa
New York, New York

Kim provided practical branding advice for Global Mamas recycled product line expansion, as well as for the next wave of Global Mamas products. Kim was able to help Global Mamas in the following ways:

  • Delivered a short and long term “innovation funnel” of potentially feasible ideas, including product recommendations in glass, paper, aluminum, and rubber.
  • Conducted a survey to identify key brand root strengths that can be leveraged by creating a more interactive customer experience.
  • Created a consumer profile to ensure all internal activation and external executions are consistent and contribute to differentiated brand positioning for Global Mamas.

Kim had such a great time reacquainting herself with the fundamentals of marketing and applying them to the Global Mamas brand and a cause that she was truly passionate about. It reawakened her drive for building meaningful consumer brands and reminded her why she decided to make a career in marketing.

"One of my favorite moments was sitting on Esther's sewing shop porch just watching the Ghanaian daily life pass along."
