Christina Blankson, Seamstress
Batiking & Sewing Center (Cape Coast)
Christina, after realizing her love for sewing at a young age, attended vocational school where she learned the in depth skills it requires to be a seamstress. Here she perfected patterning and hemming and now she has her own shop, Tina's Fashion, which she and her husband built. Since becoming a member of Global Mama's she has learned that dresses must be "neat, ironed and to make each garment to the exact measurement given." The desire to learn has been the foundation on which her business has been built, "I want people to learn, not just focus on making money. I am proud to be a seamstress because I can make all of my own clothes and do not have to give material to someone else to sew for me." Since joining Global Mama's in February of 2010 her salary has tripled, which has been helpful in aiding the cost of her two children's schooling. She has added additional business line by retailing of sewing accessories.
